Hello Compatriots,

This is to announce that version 5.00 of SARApAid has been released.  This version incorporates the new Universal (2017) form which will become mandatory in March 2018.  The new form's biggest changes are the removal of the listing of the applicant's children, the removal of the applicant's occupation, and a more comprehensive attestation statement.  With this new form comes the incorporation of split name fields in SARApAid (you will enter genealogical names in a "Given name" field and a "Surname" field).  This is for future use when the uploading of SARApAid data files is implemented by national, as they will want the name fields separated.  As long as you remember to enter Given names separately from the Surname, these split fields will operate transparently to you.  They will automatically adjust in size in case the data in one is much larger than the data in the other so that the combined names will continue to be centered in your form onscreen and on your printed forms.  Truncation, if necessary, will protect the Surname so that it is always complete.

Although there are no children listed on the new form, you can still create an application for the son of an existing applicant.  If you already have the father's application in an older form, you can perform the process by loading the father's application and starting the Application Conversion like you did previously.  Select the son, and the new application will come up in the 2017 form.  If you need to do this from an application that you created on a 2017 form, start the Application conversion as usual, and then you can provide the First, Middle, and Last name of the son as you want it to appear on the new application.

The Old Supplemental form has been disabled as a means of starting a new supplemental application due to the mandatory status of the Universal (2017) form in just a few months.  The Help file was revised to reference the Application Preparation Manual now vs. the Preparation of Application Requirements (old 0912 form).  There are also some minor code corrections.

If you already have version 3.51 (or later) installed, you can use the Update Wizard to see if your license will support this upgrade, and if so, it will automatically install the upgrade for you.

IMPORTANT - Your license date as seen on the splash screen when the program first opens must read 27 Oct 2015 or later in order for this update to download and install as a licensed version.  If you manually download/install the software on a computer with a SARApAid license date earlier than the one specified, you will end up with a DEMO version of the software and you will not be able to print your applications!

For those of you who will need to purchase a license extension to activate this version, I no longer provide CD's.  All sales are now for License Extension via Email License Code.  It's quick, easy, it works, and providing CD's just took too much of my time.  In the almost 20 years that I have been providing application software, there has not been one price increase and this is my one concession in order to continue this string.
