Windows 10 Compatibility Issue

If you’re getting the “NSSAR Application software has stopped working” message, at some point, the Windows 10 update process has caused this error to start appearing on some machines, but I don’t have enough data yet to know exactly what is causing it.

Anyway, you can try the following steps to see if it will cure your problem:

First of all reboot your computer completely (don’t just put it to sleep especially if it is a laptop).  If the issue remains, follow the below directions:

Start File Explorer (you should have an icon in your task bar that looks like a folder.  If not, type “File Explorer” in your search window, and when you see it in the list that pops up, click on it.

Look for “This PC” in the list in the left column.  If you can’t see a list of drives below that item, click on the right-facing chevron to the left of that title to open up the drive listing.

Click on the chevron beside the “OS (C:)” item to open up the folder listing under it.

Click on the chevron beside the “Program Files (x86)” folder to open a listing below it.

Click on the “APPAIDS” folder to see a listing of files in that folder.

You should see a “SARApAid” file (SARApAid.exe if you have File Explorer set to show file suffixes).  Look for the file that is listed as “Application” in the Type column.

Right-click on that file and select properties.

Click on the Compatibility tab.

In the box titled “Compatibility mode” click the box where it says  “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” so that there is a check mark in the box.

Open the drop list just below that line and select Windows 7.

Click the Apply button, then the OK button.
